Responsibilities

This position is responsible for assisting in the management, administrative direction, and coordination of staff and HR activities for the Human Resources Satellite Offices and facilitate HR policy review and development.

The essential functions of the position include:

Provides leadership and direction, develops short-term and long-term goal and objectives, and identifies trends and best practices across the HR Satellite Offices to establish comprehensive and streamlined business processes that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of these units, including processes related to compensation, classification, training, recruitment, new employee onboarding, and employee relations. Aligns HR processes across the satellite operations to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, Florida Board of Governor and University policies, procedures and regulations, while meeting customer needs and expectations. Keeps supervisor informed of significant developments and issues in satellite offices. Serves as the point of contact for senior leadership for issues related to the satellite offices.

Ensures compliance with the staff collective bargaining agreements in satellite offices as they relate to business processes. Assists Executive Director with issues related to contract administration; proactively identifies and communicates trends within satellite offices that are related to contract administration and collective bargaining. Conducts research and serves as a lead on special projects related to satellite offices, and employee and labor relations projects, as assigned.

Supervises reporting staff and evaluates performance as necessary and ensures the professional development of the staff in assigned areas. Facilitates training in multiple human resources functional areas.

Facilitate and coordinate review and development of HR related policies and procedures; assigned to HR compliance related projects as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and six years of experience related to human resources administration and/or labor relations, or a high school diploma or equivalency and ten years of the same experience. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
  • Experience with developing and implementing policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Experience with the principles, practices, and standards of human resource administration.
  • Experience training, developing, and supervising employees.
  • Experience with strategically aligning tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Experience prioritizing and organizing work assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to develop effective working relationships.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word), Zoom, Teams, and applicable computer programs.
  • Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation.
  • Ability to provide subject matter expertise and counsel others.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking based upon in-depth data, substantiating information, and considering and respecting others' input.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

What can I expect in the first 60-90 days? Your first few weeks will be getting up to speed on all things FSU HR - our policies, procedures, and what is expected of you. You also will meet with departments and stakeholders to learn the business. You will need to make the most of your time doing two things - learning what we do and start the foundation for good working relationships. Bring your previous HR experience and skills to the table and we'll spend time transferring those skills to this role.
